Arizona Healthcare Financial Management Association (AZHFMA)

National - Certification

Certification in HFMA demonstrates your professional achievement and that you are an individual who can take on challenges, and succeed. Certification may be the qualification that will give you the needed edge over others in your professional growth. Additionally, survey results indicate that certified persons are more likely to be hired than non-certified applicants. On the average, certified employees tend to earn more than non-certified employees. Click HFMA Certification and Fellowship Brochure for complete information.

The road to certification begins with membership and participation. You must be a member for two years and become an active participant in association activities. To become a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) you must pass two exams. One of the exams covers the basic Core knowledge that financial professionals should possess. The second exam covers one of these specialty areas: Accounting and Finance: Patient Financial Services, Physician Practice Management or Managed Care.Self-Study Guides are offered by HFMA national. Coaching Courses are offered at both the national and state level. Click Self-Study Guides for information on purchasing these guides.

Exams can be taken at national meetings, at state meetings, and by contacting a local exam proctor through the association office at azhfma@scltd.biz
